Help Reinstate Albert Ellis to President of the Albert Ellis Institute Recently, the Board of Directors of the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City voted to remove its founder, Albert Ellis, from its board and to terminate his celebrated Friday night counseling sessions, which he had offered to the public for over thirty years. Dr. Ellis, now 92, has lived upstairs from the Institute since its inception in the 50s. One of the most prolific and influential psychologists of the century, he is the father of Rational-Emotive Behavior Therapy, and the mainstay of cognitive behavior psychotherapy. Ellis’ theory, derived largely from stoic philosophy, has also done much to influence the growth of philosophical counseling, including my own Logic-Based variant.
I hope you will join with me in helping to reverse this historically significant and tragic turn of events. A petition calling for reinstatement of Albert Ellis to President of the Albert Ellis Institute has been established. To sign the petition (other institutions as well as individuals are encouraged to sign), please go to www.petitiononline.com/abc4rebt/petition.html
